An open hand signifies an open heart. Remember when you were a kid? And your mom would hold your hand when you were scared. Or when you hold the hand of your loved one, to assure them that you're there. Holding anothers' hand is a sign of comfort and relief.

The Philippines is in shock and grief due to Ondoy. Please help us. Hi everybody, I'm Kara from Lomomanila, we're a small group of Lomo enthusiasts based in Manila, Philippines. Last weekend, without warning, Manila was hit by Ondoy (Ketsana). In just a few hours, we experienced a months' rainfall, and this caused massive floods which destroyed homes in urban and highly populated areas. Ondoy left a huge number of Filipinos homeless, stranded and hungry with no means of communication. Some of our countrymen have died due to this fortuitous event, and others continue to be heroes in their own ways and means. Our roads are filled with silt, soil and dust, we can hardly move. Everything is unbearable, and its too much.

AND IN THE MIDST OF ONDOY'S WRATH, we are expecting another Super Typhoon coming late this afternoon, Parma. Please pray for us. Thank you.

POSTING FOR THE NTH TIME! Wahahaa!

As I was doing my reading, I "stumbled" upon this article about Lomography, and its continuing growth in the Philippines. Of course, this wouldn't even be possible if it wasn't for Lomomanila! I looked at the pictures featured in the article and WHAM BAM! There was this picture I took for Lomolokal (a collaboration of Lomomanila and Team Manila). I didn't even see this picture on the lomowall! And it was more surprising to see it upclose, taped on a panel x 4 and printed on X number of copies!!!! WAHH! I'm so excited! Haha. The scanner sucks, so I took pictures instead! You'll find a little red arrow pointing to the picture I took, it really sounds pathetic! Haha. I took that picture during one of 'em Quiapo trips and ya'll know you can't bring a car there and commuting is the only choice! Anyway, this kid was asking for change right, and was seriously although curiously looking at Pishy! And BAM! I caught that on film! Hehe

LomoManila goes to Mag:net Serendra

Local photography movement LomoManila splashes its vibrant images on to the walls of the new Mag:net Café High Street in The Fort Global City from August 13 to September 10. The ever growing group of toy camera lovers unveils their collages of exciting and colorful lomographs with a launch on Monday, August 13, 8pm featuring five themed lomowalls and musical performances by Kate Torralba, Mozzie, Shoulder State, Mobster Manila, Top Junk, Free Beer and Sanity Kit.

Lomomanila is a community of toy camera photographers who advocate the use of film and a non-traditional approach to photography, disregarding the basic rules of composition and exposure. With hundreds of members in the community, this exhibit will have 1,000 (?) lomographs from up to 40 active Lomographers using a variety of film and toy cameras.

"We have taken Lomography and Lomomanila into the mainstream, exhibiting in a high profile location such as Mag:net in the Fort. We hope we can get the interest of more people in Lomography and appreciation for our style and brand of images. We appreciate Mag:net for supporting our movement and the art community in general," Robert Rojales, LomoManila President, comments.

The exhibit, dubbed the Crapshoot, dedicates entire walls to shots of body parts, bathroom scenes, flash photographs, panoramic pictures and the best work of some LomoManila members with over-the-top angles, colors and techniques.

“LomoManila’s exhibits are not only exhibits, they are a celebration of creativity and friendship. When you join LomoManila you’re not only joining a photography club but an entire barkada full of fascinating and wonderful people,” LomoManila Founder At Maculangan emphasizes.

I just finished fixing the cases for Article 6. And it's about 7 inches thick! It took me around 40 minutes to staple, and compile.

I didn't get my puzzle today :(

BUT!!! I got a new camera! :o) I finally have a Holga 120GN! It's the basic model of all Holgas and it uses 120mm film! It's by far the biggest splurge this week! Quiapo wasn't so crowded (but it was really really hot! Good thing I was wearing a dress and Shu-Shu inspired head garb), I got a couple of cool things besides Holga (very very Russian indeed!). I got a bunch of slide films for my other babies! and new 120mms that are also expired to feed the new-born! Hehe! I was so excited I had to HOARD big-time! I'm so excited to go home this weekend! I can't wait to shoot and explore!

I woke up early today, hoping the sun wouldn't burn me on my way to Quiapo. HOWEVER, I saw Rocco basking under the early morning sun, and it reminded me of the real heat out there. So, no Hidalgo, no new slides, no Quiapo today. So, I decided just a few minutes ago that I should start on a new project! I'm going to buy a new puzzle! I haven't done puzzles in such a long time that I forgot how fun it is! The first time someone gave me one, and convinced me to try it I wanted to buckle his shoulder! But I'm gonna beat the sun by just staying in a cool place doing what kids do ---

I'm psyched! and a bit anxious about the results! Itz zee rezults thatz killing me!
